Japan Holiday 2025 Part 2

Part 2 of the holiday starts with a flight to Hakodate.  It was an amazing flight where we got a nice clear view of Mount Fuji from the window.

On arrival in Hakodate, this time we decided to take the public bus to Fav, which is a much cheaper option than taking the taxi.  And for some amazing coincidence, this time we got a room that is opposite ours last year.  The view is not so nice, but that's OK I guess.

After checking in we immediately made our way to Onjiki Ramen in Hakodate JR Station.  I might have ordered too much as I had the curry ramen and fried rice at the same time.

My curry ramen was amazing as expected while the missus indulged herself with a bowl of extra spicy salt ramen.

After we satisfied our Onjiki craving we walked to Kanemori Brick House for a quick look and see.  We arrived quite late near closing time, but managed to get a glimpse of the short fireworks as well as souvenir shopping.

Amazingly, it started to snow that evening, as if to welcome us in Hakodate.  As it wasn't snowing heavy enough, we walked back to the hotel again and called it a day.

On the following day, we started with breakfast at Komeda Coffee at the Pier outside Kanemori Brick House.  I've always wanted to try eating there after passing by last year and the visit is really worth it.  We were seated at the 2nd floor, right next to a window with a view of the pier.  We ordered beef stew, fish burger and club sandwich.  I also had a coffee that came with side of toast & hard boiled egg.  It was an amazing slow start after hectic days at Tokyo.

After breakfast we walked to Motomachi.  This time I fulfilled my wish to visit the historical buildings in the area.  It was a walk up the slope after which we encountered our first church there - Catholic Church of Hakodate.  We walked further up to have a look and see at the Russian church and then onwards to Hachimanzaka slope to take some photos.

From Hachimanzaka we walked over to the Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward.  After paying the entrance fee we explored the historic building while escaping the snow outside.

I didn't consider going to the other historic buildings nearby because I was thought the snow would hamper our journey, so we walked to Hakodate Mountain Ropeway.  As we arrived before sunset, we waited in the cafe and got a nice window seat from where we could get a good look of the million dollar view.

We waited relaxedly till the blue hour came and I started going up to take some great photos.  And boy...  I really got a good one that I've always wanted.

From Hakodate Ropeway we went to Gengis Khan for dinner.  This time we went to the outlet right next to Fav, which is a much more convenient choice.

Dinner at Gengis Khan was amazing, the meat was fresh and delicious.  After dinner we went to do our laundry and called it a night.

On the following morning we have to check out as we had to transfer to Yunokawa Prince Nagisatei.  So after checking out we took a taxi to Hakodate Station where we had another ramen brunch.

We then enjoyed the blizzard that came after and took refuge in a mall near the station.

From the station we took a slow walk back to Fav to take a taxi to Yunokawa Prince.

When we arrived at the hotel, we waited shortly before we were allowed to go into our rooms.  We really loved our room, there was a private onsen pool in the balcony with an amazing view of the sea.

We went to a nearby 7 Eleven to settle dinner first before finally relaxing and enjoying onsen.  It was the first time for me and the second for the missus.  The missus couldn't get enough of the onsen she went for second round after dinner while I decided to call it a day.

On the following morning, the missus had an early onsen and enjoyed the glorious view from the onsen pool.  I couldn't help but take some photos and videos as well.

We then went down for a quick breakfast before returning to our room and checked out.  We were bathed by the warm sunlight as we enjoyed our breakfast while looking at the icy sea.  It truly was an amazing sight and experience.

After checking out we took a taxi to the station to catch a train to Noboribetsu.  Noboribetsu is the next exciting stop of our Hokkaido adventure for sure.

Here's a closing shot for part 2 of the Japan Holiday 2025 series:
