Dreamy December

December has mostly been "Out of Office" for me; I took a total of 3 weeks off, which is practically my whole leave quota for the year.  The pace has slowed down a lot for sure which is a very welcome change, although I can't say the same for Kuta Kute in Batam.

After I returned from our Japan holiday this year, we had a team lunch at M Hotel City Centre.  My lady boss arranged a Nonya buffet lunch for the team which turned out quite nice.

Jubilant June

The kids' mid-year break kicked into full swing this month.  It was a time to slow the pace down a bit, although for Lindsay this period meant she has to catch up on her work as PSLE prelims will start on the 3rd week of July, which is not that far away.

Maddening May

May has been an awful month where work is concerned.  The SAP integration project went Live on 26th May, however I had overlooked one issue related to displaying the dispute intent on the chat menu and another issue on an onboarding setup for China.

What upset me most was that the manager just took me off the onboarding process and asked the obnoxious asshole to take over, I felt like I haven't been given the chance to fix my mistakes.  I was extremely upset, even coming to the verge of wanting to cry.  As that asshole took over the onboarding activities, he started asking questions that made me feel like I haven't done my work.  Well....  The miss on displaying the intent on chat menu was because he said we just need 1 user story and the different teams will work from that user story.  Guess what... the other team didn't come in at all.  I had asked if I need to create another ticket and he said "No", so I had assumed that the other team would come in by themselves.  Man...  it was such a big mistake to just trust him, although I was also at fault for not performing the check on Live environment.  To make things worse, the China team came with a last minute request on Friday to update the queue setup for the web channel.  I was so pissed off, they didn't respond to my inquiries timely, so I fixed the onboarding setup for them, and then at the eleventh hour they mentioned it is not what they want.

Festive February

February has been a month of celebrations of sorts.  The first round of celebrations started with the Chinese New Year buffet lunch in office this month, which while not as good as previous year's but still sumptuous nonetheless.  Of course there was the Lo Hei (which I didn't join), the God of Fortune going around distributing fortune cookies and chocolate coins too.  But for me I was satisfied with just a good free lunch.

Dreamy December

December has been somewhat peaceful, considering I spent more than half of the month away from work.  And boy.... how I wish I could just win the lottery so that I can quit my friggin' job (I really hate my senseless workaholic team mates, shifty global service department and self serving product owner).  Travelling made me realize there are so many wonderful things out there to see and experience, instead of just being desk bound and work to fulfil someone else's agenda.  A true leader is someone who makes people working under him/her feel empowered and become prosperous, instead of just having them execute the boss' own designs.

The highlight of the month is of course, my Japan trip.  This year we started from Tokyo, then made our way through 4 cities in Hokkaido (Hakodate, Otaru, Furano & Sapporo).  I'll be writing on that trip in a separate post.

Shackled September

So the friggin' SAP integration project went live this month, I didn't give a 💩 and took a day off during the prep week which was during the kids' term break since I refused to do anything further related to that project, not the hypercare, not the sprint grooming, etc.  My BAU is more than enough to occupy me and the lack of work life balance as well as consideration disgusted me enough to pay no heed to this fu💀ked up project.

Angsty August

Sometimes I wonder when can I start my entry on a positive note.  Work has been disgusting as usual, unfortunately, work makes the most of our lives isn't it.  The cursed SAP integration project is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel which will be 9th September.  And the amount of preparation and tests that have to be done will have to take place over 1 weekend and 1 full day during the kids' term break.  I can't believe it, another term break that I won't get to spend with family.  This project is just f💣ked up.  And all for vanity.

Arduous April

April has mostly been difficult.  I think the biggest thing that happened this month is that the missus got let go by her company just this Monday.  It took a while for her to process the news and I did my best to comfort her.  Just earlier this afternoon we went to her office to clean up her cubicle.

Nefarious November

Yes...  This has been an extremely wicked month where work is concerned.  This particular "team mate" of mine is really an asshole, and that's putting it mildly.  There was an instance when the overwhelming colleague (who made me got my chest tightness in our meeting last month) reached out from a JIRA story complaining about a feature that was supposed to have been deployed on the previous week but was nowhere to be found.  And this "team mate" of mine left a scorching remarks in the JIRA thread that really made my blood boil.  Turned out, the enhancement was overwritten by a deployment that made it gone missing.

Smooth September

September has been plain sailing so far, with some health problems every now and then.  I'm still reminiscing about my trip to Batam earlier this month, there are times when I wish I could be transported back there in an instant.  Harbour Bay has certainly become more charming now.

Messy March

March has been pretty much the same except for some eventful happenings at home.  Work has been very tough too as usual, with it's own share of dramas.  One major story we worked on had some features rolled back even after UAT as the local users thought the feature could possibly spam the customers.  Well...  just give them what they want.

Dotty December

Today's the last day of December; 2022 will end in about three and a half hours.  Work has been crazy busy as usual.  I wish I can do less work so that I have more time to think.  I've been wanting to explore how to use App Sheets and be able to create my own apps.  But I just haven't got the chance to do so just yet, even yesterday night I was still submitting tickets for new user ID creations.

Another Trip to Batam

Sometime in March I traveled to Batam again for more photography.  This time, its more towards food photography.  Besides it was March term break for Lincoln so I thought bringing him and Lindsay will be a good break from the monotony.

A Small Batam Project

Earlier in October I went to Batam for a private project.  I hadn't been to Batam in a very long time so this short visit was quite refreshing.  Things in Batam change at quite a fast pace nowadays, no doubt tourism is still going strong despite the factories and shipyards having gone out of business.  Harbourbay itself is changing as Marriott is shaping up quite nicely.  This complex is looking more and more..... complex....   I had my X-T2 and the XF10-24mm F4 R OIS for this short project.
