Perhaps I should be grateful that things have been rather uneventful... Or not? Nah... I don't know... So far things have been rather dull in November.
Last Saturday we went to Lindsay's school carnival in West Coast Park. That was our first time visiting West Coast Park. The sea view fell short of breathtaking as it was made up of mainly marine yards, what looked like oil refineries in Jurong Island, Pasir Panjang Terminal and numerous docked ships, although there were plenty of open space for games such as frisbee, football and kite flying.

The kids had quite an enjoyable time at the carnival playing games, eating ice cream and cotton candy. We even had our hands trying on kite flying although in the end we failed quite miserably... But it was good fun as a family altogether.
And then yesterday my wife and I tried out a cafe called Knots Cafe and Living, somewhere in Ubi all the way in the east before we went for some furniture shopping in nearby Paya Lebar.

Knots is a cafe that doubles as a furniture showroom. So while dining, you're actually using the furnitures and looking at decorations they are selling. Seating could be quite limited, we were quite lucky to get a table on a public holiday.

The food was good and the coffee was excellent.

After we finished brunch we set foot for a number of furniture shops on our list. Over a span of 3 and a half hours and 4 stops, we were finally done and had a good idea of what we want and how much we should spend. It was then time to entertain our 2 little rascals who had been patiently waiting at home. From our last stop in Dhoby Ghaut, we picked up Lincoln and Lindsay to a nearby Italian restaurant in Tiong Bahru called Chapter 55 for some waffles and gelato.
That was our 2nd visit to Chapter 55. I wasn't wowed on my first visit, however this time they seemed to have improved quite significantly. We had wanted to drop by Creamier, unfortunately the place was packed so we had to go elsewhere. Lincoln had a cotton candy gelato sundae while Lindsay had the chocolate lava cake. I went for apple pie with vanilla gelato and ordered an additional waffles and a margerita pizza to share.

The gelato tend to be too sweet for an old man like me although the pizza was very good and got quickly devoured as soon as it came. The waffle was alright, nothing fantastic if compared to Creamier's but the serving was generous. Surely, their gelato was a lot more palatable than the sweets in Union... And Chapter 55's coffee was good. Apparently they are now using Common Man Coffee Roasters' beans which explains the marked improvement of their coffee based drinks. Seems like I could be tempted to visit Chapter 55 again for more pizza and pastas in the future.
And so those were well spent first weekend of November and the Deepavali holiday.
Here's a closing shot for this nondescript entry:
