Baker & Cook Dempsey

Long weekends are always wonderful.  It gives us that precious extra day to just enjoy some quality time with the family.  Although it was the exam week for Lincoln, we did have some time for a wonderful family brunch at Baker & Cook Dempsey on the Deepavali weekend.

Just look at that cinnamon roll with vanilla icing.... I'm drooling again now.  Baker & Cook is a modern Australian cafe headlined by Kiwi master baker Dean Brettschneider.  As you'd probably have guessed, bread and other baked goods are the celebrated stars here.

We had quite a lot of baked goods to sample.  Among the 4 of us we had the Pain Au Chocolat, Rose & Pistachio doughnut, Ham quiche and a cinnamon roll with vanilla icing.

There were brunch items too on the menu, although some of them commanded quite a bit of adjustment to my Asian palate.  The Chorizo Hash is a very nice item on the menu that sat very well with our taste buds almost immediately.  The spice, the egg and the potatoes were all very tasty.

The Turkish Eggs however...  That's a dish that require an acquired taste.  The melted butter and the Greek yoghurt tasted rather plain and sour.....  though buttery...

We also had a Dutch Baby Pancake.  I'll say that we prefer waffles over this pancake anytime.  The texture is similiar to omelette and we just couldn't miss that eggy taste.

That aside, there were many other items available on the counter that looked as appetizing.  The quiche were particularly delectable and tantalizing....

And I'm still having dreams of this Rose & Pistachio doughnut....  The custard topping and filling is simply amazing.  So tender, sweet and fragrant.

I'll definitely drop by Baker & Cook Dempsey again sometime to try their mains and sourdough pizza.  And I should definitely buy back some of their amazing bread too.
