After I was done with all the business travel in October, it was time for a visit to Purwokerto in November to attend my BIL's wedding. No fancy airliner, just flying no frills on Jetstar. Travelled light too so I just had my RX100 Mk 3.

After a slightly more than 90 minutes flight we arrived in Jakarta, had a quick lunch and went off to Gambir train station for a 5 hour train ride.

I've always loved train rides (real train, not those subways kind), not sure why..... perhaps because i could just relax while listening to the constant rail noise.
At about 9:30 p.m. we arrived at cool Purwokerto.

Since we were all bushed, we just bathed and slept. Nothing exciting or major on that day.
The 2nd day started with breakfast at Bakmi Cahaya Mas.

The kids also had a great time playing in the garden which is 4 times the size of my current house.... Lincoln got hold of my camera and took this cute shot:

After breakfast, the excitement started. There was a ceremony to put new bed sheets on the couple's bed. It was followed by a small reception in the house and lunch.

We went over to Soto Jalan Bank for lunch since I was not in the mood for salty fried chicken for lunch.

After lunch we just relaxed around as we wait to meet up with some friends from Singapore who will attend the wedding too.
Before we went over to meet them we dropped by a legendary bread shop in Purwokerto, touted as the oldest bread shop in the city, which at 119 years old is very hard to dispute. Coincidentally, this bread shop is run by my close friend's parents.

Once we got our bread we went to a Javanese restaurant called Umaeh Inyong. Very nice ambiance and food was great too.

After dinner we sent our friends to their hotel up in Baturaden and then went back home. That was an extremely packed day 2.
Day 3 started rather slow because the ladies were having their makeup sessions so I and the kids just had it easy. Then when afternoon came we went off to the hotel for the fetching and tea ceremonies. It was then followed by an approximately 4 hour break before the wedding started.

And finally when Monday came it was time for me to go back while the wifey and kids stay behind to enjoy the rest of their holiday.
My train left at midnight, the station was quiet but reasonably crowded with many people apparently making their way to Jakarta too.

What I find very impressive is how each station master will always stand outside their station whenever the train passes by their station, even though its right in the middle of the night.. You can see the station master in the video below holding a green light tube.
And I finally arrived in Jakarta at 6 in the morning. It was just nice for 公公's 40 days prayer which I went to at 11 am before finally leaving for Singapore at 5 pm. And so that's how my November Purwokerto trip ended.
