Durians in June

T'is the season of the durians.  Fruits aplenty and prices are reasonable. Not rock bottom, but reasonable where you can get a good Musang King (猫山王) for $15/kg.  But my personal preference is actually for the Red Prawns (红虾) so called because of the reddish orange flesh of the durians.  This variety is juicier, sweet all over with no hints of bitterness at all.

To get our durian fix, we went to King Fruits at Havelock road.  Their price is the lowest in city area.

If you'd like to go to King Fruits, do check their Google review first yeah?  Because on both visits, my experience with them was straightforward although apparently quite a number of people were dissatisfied with them.  😏

The crowd was there as expected.  You can meet all sorts of people getting their durian, those who came in their fancy continental cars, Indonesians on holiday here escaping the "domestic workers returning to their hometown" epidemic and down to earth heartlanders.  Who'd ever imagine some spiky, thorny & smelly fruit could bring people together so effectively.

We actually went to King Fruits twice, with my visiting in-laws on both occasions.  On the first visit we went crazy and had 6 fruits at one go.
