How to define Bali? Sea? Mountain? Mystic? Culture? Art? Tegalalang rice field? Mount Agung? Mount Kintamani? Tanah Lot? All of those and more perhaps. Bali is so beautiful; beautiful beach, beautiful mountain, beautiful sunset, beautiful art, beautiful nature, friendly people and so much more. Even Indonesians are absolutely mesmerized by Bali.

It was an impromptu holiday in March 2014 to Bali... the plane tickets were cheap and we got a very good deal for a stay in Pullman Kuta. So we decided to take off after asking 2 of my wife's best friends to help look after Lindsay while we were away.

We stayed in Pullman Legian, which is on the far side of Kuta, nearer to Legian. While the hotel itself is amazing and good, the location not so children friendly in my opinion as it is too far from the malls such as Beachwalk and Discovery Plaza. However it is nearer to the hip bars in Legian. So perhaps I won't recommend this hotel highly to families with children although they do have a kids club.

On the first night we just walked around Kuta and had dinner in a nearby Italian restaurant called Papa's Limoncello. The food there was so good we decided to go back there on the 2nd night.

On 2nd day we went to Ubud and dropped by a kopi luwak plantation. The place is called Bali Pulina. The place has great view and coffee.

I do have to point out that I don't really like kopi luwak neither do I support the farming method of coffee beans through those caged civet cats. But supposedly this particular plantation let their civet cats roam freely in their plantation in a bid to maintain a humane production. But still...... you gotta have the stomach to drink it (considering that it came out with their excrement....).
Prior to reaching Bali Pulina, we dropped by a silver handicraft factory as well.

After spending a few hours in Bali Pulina, we went to a restaurant called Laka Leke. Its a great place. We dined with a view of rice fields in a cool windy gazebo and there were tourists learning to perform Kecak dance as well.

From Laka Leke we returned to our hotel and walked around Kuta again - yes, its never boring in Kuta!

We left on the 3rd day, it was such a short trip but yet so memorable. We really loved it so much we decided that we have to bring Lindsay too on the next trip.
