Surabaya Trip - Part 4

It's the new year!  And it's also the day we set out for Batu.  Batu here we come!

Yeah look at that traffic.  What's supposed to be a leisurely 2 and a half hour drive turned into a 4 hour drive.

And even after we saw this sign it was still a half hour drive to reach the final destination which is Jatim Park 2.

And finally after some turns, asking and more turns, we reached the destination.  I didn't have a good photo of the facade as I was still getting accustomed to the surrounding the moment I arrived.  But before we proceeded to Eco Green Park, I did snap a quick photo of Batu Secret Zoo's entrance.

Eco Green Park's main showcase are birds.  Peacocks roam freely inside.  It was raining quite heavily.  Fortunately my wife prepared some rain ponchos beforehand so we could still continue to explore the park once the rain has abated.  It's a good thing that both my X-T1 and XF 16mm F1.4R WR are both water resistant.  I could easily wield them in the rain with no issues.

The park emphasizes the importance of recycling, so you'll find some displays made from recycled materials.  Here are some shots of the amazing recycled displays.

And somewhere inside we found the Eco Green Park logo too which is quite colourful.

Lincoln & Lindsay had a lot of fun with the animals here.  They can get really close to the animals, even closer than they can at Singapore Zoo.

And of course, the main showcase here are the birds!

We finished roaming around by 5 pm and returned to the hotel to freshen up. After that we went to a nearby restaurant for dinner.  Food in Batu is not so fantastic, okayyyy only....

After dinner, the kids returned with my mom and sister to rest in the hotel.  My wife and I went around the city for a while.  As it was still drizzling we didn't really visit the other attractions but just took note of them from the car.

When we returned to the hotel I noticed that the nearby surroundings actually make for some good landscape photos.  So I snapped more photos with my X-T1.

And day 1 in Batu ended.  Tomorrow we'll be visiting Batu Secret Zoo for more excitements.
