Surabaya Trip - Day 2

On day 2, we started by visiting my mom first.  So my parents' house was the first stop of the day.

We picked her up for breakfast at Pasar Modern's Nasi Bali Cik Ing.  It was good as usual, although we have somehow grown accustomed to the taste so it wasn't so special.  More importantly, having eaten at the real Balinese Ibu Oka's & Dobil, Cik Ing's Nasi Bali suddenly became very ordinary.  Nevertheless, it's still the best Nasi Bali in western Surabaya.

After breakfast, the missus wanted to go to a hair salon so we dropped by Etienne Hairdressing at Spazio near Graha Loop.  The missus got her hair coloured, Lincoln got a haircut and I got a hair cream bath.  Lindsay refused to have her hair cut, so she was the only one left out.

After we were done in Etienne, we went to Monopole in Graha Family.  This branch is significantly smaller than the one in Raya Darmo Permai.  It was not a very nice trip....  I also hated the children unfriendly environment as there was a bunch of youngsters vaping in the outdoor area which was clearly visible from where we were seated.

From Monopole we went on to Pakuwon Trade Centre to indulge the kids by taking them to the pet shops.  They played with a huge Chow Chow and also got to see a rabbit exhibition.

Lindsay certainly had a good time with the rabbits while Lincoln played with the Chow Chow that was almost as heavy as him.

In the evening, we returned to my parents' house to pick my mom up for dinner.  And we arrived just as she finished harvesting some of the mangoes in our own backyard. There were about 140+ mangoes in total.  My mom had given out some while I counted 123 when I arrived.

The mango tree has been around ever since we moved in, that means the tree is more than 20 years old already.  And the harvest has always been bountiful.  There were still more on the trees that were still unplucked as it had gotten dark.

Anyway, it was finally time for dinner.  We went to nearby Ikan Bakar Cianjur where we had traditional Javanese food.  Lindsay especially enjoyed the fried gurameh fish.  Silly me didn't take any photos of the food.

After dinner, we sent my mom back home and we made our way back to Ibis Budget to call it a day.

Here's a closing shot for this short entry:
